College Application Essay

“What are your dreams of the future? When you look back in your life in thirty years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful?”

Everybody wants to accomplish something in life. Some people want to be Actors, or Actresses. Others want to be singers or musicians. They love the rush they get when they act or sing in front of a camera for all to see. However, some people like to be on the other side of the camera. Some people like to be the one that captures the moment when the rockstar smashes his guitar on the stage floor and shatters every inch of the fiber-glass body.
Picture this - An empty stage. Nothing on it. Nobody near it. The tour bus pulls up and one by one the stage-hands turn the empty stage into a rock wonderland. Its full of guitars, pyrotechnics, and other wonderful toys that make the rockstar feel like a little kid again. Slowly the empty seats begin to be filled up with many eager fans who hope and wish to see their favorite band in concert. There also happens to be professional photographers who come to these shows as well. For some of these photographers, its just a job, but to others, it’s a way of life. Some people live to capture the once-in-a-lifetime moment when the rockstar jumps into the air and throws up his microphone in a rush of adrenaline. There is nothing that can compare to the feeling of accomplishment when you capture that one amazing picture.
The job of a photographer is a big job that can only be handled by somebody with the skill and confidence to accomplish the task that has been given to them. They have to take risks and do whatever they can to get the shot that they wanted. The job of entertainment photographer is a job that one can only dream about having one day. Its my dream, and I’m determined to do whatever I can to make that dream come true.

Somebody Who Has Influenced My Life

Dustin Kessler is a 17 year old boy who currently lives in Germany. I found him on twitter about 2 or 3 months ago, and ever since then my life has been impacted by him in a very big way. He suffers from a very rare heart condition called "cardiac insufficiency". His story is truly inspirational in so many ways.

"What you are is Gods gift to you, what you make of yourself is your gift to God. He gave me a chance, so I have to take it." - Dustin

Dustin's dad passed away about 6 years ago from a rare heart disease that they didn't diagnose until after his death. Sadly, about 4 years after, Dustin suffered his first heart attack, which was soon after diagnosed as the same thing that his Dad had died from. Ever since then he's gone through many many surgeries(over 30 of them) and he even had a total heart transplant. Most of this all happened before his 17th birthday. He's truly inspirational to me in so many ways, because he always seems to have a positive attitude about everything. Even though he suffers from heart attacks on almost a daily basis, he always seems to be joyful about everything.

"Anyone can give up, its the easiest thing. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, thats true strength." - Dustin

Dustin makes me realize how much we all take for granted. He can't even live his life without the help of machines, and we sometimes forget how good we have it. In everything he does, he looks at the bright side. He sees the glass half full instead of half empty. He appreciates every single thing in his life, and even though he currently has a life expectancy of 16 months, he wants to live his life to the fullest. He never seems upset or pessemistic, and he's never negativity. His strength to survive inspires me so much. Even though I don't actually physically know him in real life, I know his story, and it still impacts me just as much. He is still my biggest hero in life right now, and I KNOW that God will heal him. I have full faith that a miracle will happen in Dustin's life, and I really do think that God will use him for amazing things.

"People asked me why I'm so unconcerned about dying. Im not! I have a lot of respect.. but I'm not afraid. Dont be the person who blocks your way. If you realize that all things change, there is nothing you will try to hold on to. If you aren't afraid of dying, there is nothing you cannot achieve." - Dustin
